Tombé pour la France, Politik Pop, C'est la crise!

Le Parti Socialiste Européen a lancé la campagne pour les élections parlementaires européennes la semaine dernière. C'est sympa de voir tous ces politiciens de différents pays réunis, etc. Ah, si seulement les citoyens se souciaient plus de ces élections... Enfin bref, la campagne a commencé aussi sur le net:

Et voilà ce que j'ai à dire: j'adore la chemise de PSE. Dommage qu'elle soit aussi bouffante.

The reason why apathy reigns regarding these elections is that the EU parliament is viewed as being no more than a fig leaf for democracy in an organization that is so contrived as to increase the power of national governments' executives at the expense of their parliaments. The unelected Commissioners in cahoots with their sponsors in the executive arms of national governments make directives, which are approved by the Council of Ministers (members of the executive arms of national governments) and presented to the various national parliaments as fait accompli, which the parliaments are obliged to render into law.
It is seen as being a gravy train for an incestuous elite of politicians. People do not want to sully themselves by having anything to do with it.
That is why it needs reform.
Many parties want to reform the relationship with the EU, most of them by walking away from the organization. The only party that is both Euro-sceptic and pro-EU is Libertas, who wish to reform the EU to make it democratic and accountable to the electorate.
