My Banksy

My Banksy

Banksy is a street artist who does rather funny tags in London. When I lived in Shoreditch, several of his works could be found a bit anywhere. So, as a symbol of my time in London, I decided to buy the above support that shows two cops french-kissing.

Despite his "alternative" side, Banksy is fully in the system and generates some controversy. First, he makes shitloads of money and told a magazine he felt guilty about earning so much. However, nobody asked him to demand such huge sums! He hasn't been asked to take money from charities either! It's so hard to be rich...

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

The first time I've seen the Rocky Horror Picture Show, it was in 2003, little time after my arrival in Paris. I went with Mathilde, Josette et Marie, we licked the theatre staff's arse and we got seats on the front. They showed the movie, but a shadow cast was palying the movie on stage, in front of the screen! Of course, they interacted with the viewers who could throw rice during the wedding scene or water during the rain scenes! I remember that, towards the end, one of the comedians jumped on me to simulate a fellatio. It was fun, it's just that he hadn't washed his pants for some time and I could smell it.

Apart from that, I keep a very good memory of this experience and I advise everyone to see it!

And if you don't want to see it, well, you can still watch one of the strongest scenes of the movie here:

The XXIst arcana in the Tarot of Marseilles: The World

I was looking at the news on my Netvibes the other day: Sarko at the UN doing a speech about a "new world order". On Yahoo!, the resistance of buddhist monks in Burma. On Youtube, the latest interviews of Hillary Clinton...

The world is moving and I know everything that is happening. Is it the XXIst century? The globalisation?

Oh, that's funny, in the Tarot of Marseilles, the XXIst and last arcana happens to be the World. It's a very positive card meaning opening to the world, fulfillment, harmony...

Yes, I know, it doesn't mean anything but it'd be great if we could make so that it should happen!

PS: I've spent so much time to go live with this article that it can be concluded that globalisation, harmony, will take time but is worth it. (I must be hangover to say such bullshit.)

The long way to the White House

Bill and Hillary Clinton then jippy students at Yale

The person that is, according to Newsweek, the safest money in the bid for the White House, is Hillary Clinton. This is surprising since Hillary was very impopular a few months ago in the U.S., however, so was George W. Bush before being elected.

The presidential election in the USA is very different from France. It's like 1000 times harder! First, the primaries start months before the supporters' vote. Some candidates announce they were running for president in december 2006 and they are going to have to be enduring because the general election will happen in november 2008.

The tone and the methods are very different as well. In France, candidates can't use televised advertisement but some short movies used at a very precise time chosen by the CSA (Superior Council of Audio-visual). In the United States, they can and it turns trash very quickly. And let's not talk about some television networks that are fully committed to republicans, such as FOX News, which broadcasts so much misinformation that I wonder how come people can still watch this channel. And now I start wondering whether the same is happening in France. Anyway, TV is one thing, Internet is another one. La Clinton is totally under fire on the Web! Conservatives accuse her of eating babies and even worse, promoting communism, whereas some left-wing people reproach her of being too moderate, or not being able to represent the change Americans are waiting for, since she's the husband of a former president. About this issue, Mrs Clinton's answer was shingling:

I think that, with all these people against her and very harsh on her, especially after the Lewinski scandal that showed the entire world that she was cheated on by her husband, she is a very courageous woman.

The similarities between the French and the American election exist. Sarko was impopular, considered as a polarizing character but managed to become the leader of the right. Hillary Clinton was already an impopular public figure, considered as a polarizing character too but could legitimately become the leader of the Democrats as an experienced woman, even maybe the heiress of the previous Democrat president.

It's also going to depend on her competitor. Republicans are a mess right now, no candidate really outshines the others, and this could be a serious problem for the Party during election. Giuliani, the former New York City Mayor during 9/11, is an interesting adversary, especially since he's got, just like Sarkozy, foreign roots but at this grandparents' level. However, he's very different from him since, to outshine others, he keeps on attacking Hillary Clinton.

But the former jippy is solid and seems capable of enduring this. She will have to prove it to the American people anyway to become the leader of her country.

For a sexual revolution!

I read again my previous post and I found it dull, naive and superficial. Those who read it must have been bored to death. So, I suggest a post about sex!

I found an article saying that Bertrand Delanoë, Paris' gay socialist mayor, had thongs banned at Paris Plage. He also banned topless women, which may be more understandable. Well, I'm wondering now. Anyway, just to say that a man who should be open-minded about these issues imposed a puritanist measure for "security purposes" officially. To avoid what? Rape attempts? It looks like we get back to the "he raped her but it's her fault because she provoked him" way of thinking. Where has the Sexual Revolution spirit gone???

I then suggest a policy to allow a true Sexual Revolution in France!

  • First of all, women must not be forbidden to wear thongs for any reason. (Got it Ségo?)
  • Allow men to wear thongs too!
  • Legalise prostitution.
  • Weaken laws about censorship for movies with erotic content, and the like.
  • Legalise homosexual marriage.
  • Fight against practices such as excision.
  • Invest massively in prevention of sexual diseases and seek for new methods of prevention. (Structural prevention and the like.)
  • Erase the reference to fidelity in civil weddings!
  • Any suggestions?

Bits of an environmental policy

Environment is more and more talked about, especially because of global warming. The situation is getting worse and we must take decisions before it becomes out of control.

So, well, we should:

  • Regulate emissions of greenhouse gas nationwide
  • Actively support international initiatives such as Kyoto's protocol and stuff
  • Invest in research to create alternatives, not only against global warming, but also to create cleaner energy sources, make recycling better, and the like.
  • Settle means for citizens to allow them to reduce their carbon footprint, but not in a constraining way. Let's compare France and England. In France, every home has what is called "selective sorting", that is several trash bins in which they can sort their garbage. In England, if you want to throw away your glass bottles, you first have to find the closest local authority bin and then carry your rubbish over there! Very practical when you know that most Londoners don't have a car!
  • Eventually, I don't think individuals should be sanctioned. This kind of policy could make a government very impopulaire and allow the victory of an opposition that would have based its program on the destruction of the environmental policy.

Well, now the question is, how to fund all that? I don't know, I'm no politician!

New category: Politik Pop

'Traveller' by hyperrealistic sculptor Duane Hanson

Today, I'm launching a new category, "Politik Pop". The idea that, following the presidential election, it would be good for me to have clear political positions. The centre is a beautiful idea but it is difficult to know what it actually stands for. By the way, the democrats are currently working on their policy.

So that's it, a small section to talk about some subjects, some interesting causes but also attempts of positioning on polemics. I'm going to take it easy, and I will start with little controversial and simple subjects.

I thought about calling this section "pol Pop" but I estimated that it would be too sad a word game.

You don't understand why I chose hyperrealistic sculptor Duane Hanson's Traveller? It's self-sarcasm.

PIC-TUUUUUUURE!

There is a funny functionality on Matoo's blog. Users can take a picture of themselves thanks to their webcam. You can find my picture here. Watch out, I'm not shaved, neither the beard, nor the moustache not the head, it's pretty scary.

Anyway, it's interesting... It's just a shame users can't add comments. I recognized Sailor Moon's cosmic scepter!

One new guess?

What is worse? Keeping on watching one's ex' web pages and seeing he's hotter and hotter or keeping on watching one's ex' web pages, seeing he's hotter and hotter and realizing he found someone?

He beat me. He found someone before me, this dirty bastard.
