The Iron Lady

The UK has just got a new Prime Minister. Tony Blair is gone, because of bad polls, and left his seat to Gordon Brown. The british system is weird. They don't elect persons but parties. Well, maybe it's not that bad.

It's funny how leaders come and go, all around the world, and there is not a lot after all, that we remember. I wonder the memory Tony Blair will leave behind him. Anyway, there is a British Prime minister we will not forget in the near future: Margaret Thatcher, a.k.a. the iron lady, left a very deep legacy behind her, such that, when talking about her with the English, they react very strongly. Either they admire her, or they hate her.

It should be stressed that Mrs thatcher made neo-liberalism triumph in Europe and has been a key element in the ending of the cold war. She has also been a very authoritarian leader who let strikes last for months (the miners' strike last more than a year) and who didn't hesitate asking unions: "Who governs Britain?" and she applied her programme meticulously. When she left, unemployment was huge but the economy could go again on safe grounds, and the UK is powerful today thanks to her.

I watched a few videos of Thatcher to try and understand the phenomenon, and I must say I have been surprised by her intelligence when she speaks. Either when it is about her arrival at Number 10, to defend her position about sinking the Belgrano or to defend... Pinochet.

Oh, what a woman!

P.I.S.S. O.F.F.!!!

Sego hit again

Yesterday evening, Sego declared that the 1500 euros minimum wage and the 35-hour week for everyone were ideas that she "had to" defend in her presidential project but that were not credible.

Jean-Luc Melenchon, a left-wing senator whose ideas don't meet mine but whose I appreciate the outspokenness and the consistency, wondered this morning whether Sego would have applied these measures, had she been elected.

Dear, some people still want her to lead the Socialist Party...

Come on Sego, piss off, you have already done a lot of stupid things. P.I.S.S. O.F.F.!!! And stop wearing these horrible red petticoats! It doesn't suit you at all and, moreover, doesn't make you more of a Socialist in any way.

U.S. Presidential elections '08
Barack or Hillary?

One of them will (maybe) be the United States' next president. Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama.

Now that French polls are over, let's cover the American elections! So, what candidate do you prefer? Hillary, former president Bill Clinton's wife or Barack, one of the few senators to object to war on Irak? When you consult the websites of Clinton and Obama, you hesitate. The ex-first lady's website is better-looking but subjects are very "teletubbies-like". But about one of the few black american senators, design is poorer but subjects are more serious. And, big news, he's supported by Oprah Winfrey!

Rose heart

I know, this heading is very bad however, I should be inspired by Benoît Hamon.

Hey, he looks gay. Dammit, he's married too.

Well, he still looks good. Even when he winces.

Tombé pour la France:
Easy heart

The bad news about the parliamentary elections in France is not that President Nicolas Sarkozy missed to be France's new Emperor, nor that "Super Environment Minister" Juppé had to resign. No, the bad news is that the only hot guy in French politics lost. Ah, Arno...

Whatever, nevermind! Arno, when he speaks, he's kind of boring and there are other interesting guys! Like the newbie in the government, Laurent Wauquiez. But he's married. Politics really suck.

In the mood for blog

  • Diary

Yes, I know, I haven't written much lately. However, there's much to say! Between flathunting, meeting new people, the new project for uni, I have enough to talk about for the next 10 months!

But, on the one hand, I have little time for me. And on the other hand, I am not in the mood to blog.

Ségo, piss off!

"What will stop the stupidity and the bad faith of that woman?"

This is what I wondered when I read that Ségo said that François Bayrou, between the two rounds of the presidential election, should have merged his party with her and he would have been Prime Minister! Let's not forget that Ségo said that Bayrou was right-wing, but as well as that the "clear choice" and that she wouldn't get into "politic manipulations". Howevershe added she didn't know how the Socialist Party would have reacted to the designation of Bayrou as Prime Minister, but that public opinion would have followed! And she added éhe lacked of audacity".

Let's face it. Ségo is gutted that she lost the presidential election. So she blames it on Bayrou. She is a bad loser.

And she makes up impossible stuff. Bayrou's centrist party, merging with Royal's left-wing party? She's joking! Bayrou's goal is to make the center an independant movement. She didn't understand anything.

When I read that, I really think that... she's a stupid bitch. And that I'm very happy she hasn't been elected.

She didn't do enough mistakes in the Socialist Party? Nobody reacts to her sayings?
