This weekend, I was in Paris ! I spent a really good time between my birthday, my friends from Dégel and my ex-coworkers from eclosion.net, Mylène's gig...
First, I dropped my stuff at Yannick's place (and I arrived at the worst moment ever...). Then, we gathered at the Curieux (even Sophie who got lost) and a lot of people came ! Marie from eclosion.net, Laurent from Dégel, Philippe came to say hello, Marion, Nolwenn, Benoît, Elise, Sunny, Meriam, Dara, Stéphane and Greg. I was glad because everybody talked to everybody and when we told the waiter it was our birthday, he switched off the lights, turned on Fame out loud and brought little fireworks !!!
Okay, then we were already a bit drunk and we went to Starbucks (the bad competitors of Caffe Nero), the Imprevu and the Polystar ! It's a karaoke club ! With Sophie, we ran to sing All by myself (Anymooooorrrrrrrrrrrre !!!), and we made impression ! We sang Dancing Queen and Besoin de rien, envie de toi ("Need Nothing, Want You"), it was not as good but quite funny as well. Then, we waited for a taxi for hours in the deep cold night.
The day after, in the morning (like noon or something), Yannick brought some croissants ! Then I joined my twinsister Elodie and her boyfriend Edward in Bercy to see Mylene Farmer's gig. We had lunch in a restaurant and then when we queued for 3 hours (in the cold winter) and we got inside.
The stage was HUGE and covered by a big temple-like door, with a second central stage and a moving bridge in between. First we saw a short movie. People were getting impatient and yelled : "Mylene, we're leaving !". When she finally appeared, the hysteric fan beside me had like a crisis, got crying and kissed his boyfriend. It was horrible. If any man does that to me, I dump him at the right moment he does it. I mean, seriously. Mylene, yeah, she's talented, but it's just a chick singing sad songs and making herself look like a goddess ! Bitch ! She makes money from the depressive people !!!
Actually, I wasn't... satisfied. To me, everything looked so... cheap, fake. The candlestick by which she got to the middle stage looked like she a giant Babou candlestick (Babou is a really cheap and quite bad taste shop), the costums were rubbish, the music was covered with really bad 80s synthetizers... She'd better FINALLY fire her music director, Yvan Cassar, wake up her songwriter Laurent Boutonnant because her last songs were rubbish and most all, avoid stupid choregraphies ! The worst moment was when she let a girl, I mean, a child, get on stage, she couldn't even fake the fact that she cared about that kid...
Okay, there was some positive aspects. Je t'aime Mélancolie ("I love you melancholy") sounded great, the last song Avant que l'ombre... ("Before the shadow...") was great and Déshabillez-moi ("Undress me") during which she totally let herself go. My god, she looked like she IS human AT LAST. Incredible !
After that, I took the Eurostar in which I read Brokeback Mountain. I prefered the movie actually. I went to work. And I got home.
See "Birthday in Paris" gallery
Sunday, 22th of January, Ada's birthday, Marlene, Ada and I went to the theater to see Jarhead. Actually, we have loved Jake Gylleenhaal too much in Brokeback Mountain so we had to see that movie. It was good. A really realistic look at war, neither glorifying, nor demonizing, nor victimizing anybody. Furthermore, the website is great. What was funny actually, was when I got out of the theater and I did the US soldier tough look, and then, a bloke checked me out ! Is tough virility the key to seduction ???

- Diary
2 days before Brokeback Mountain (on Friday the 13th, then !), I was assaulted in Pentney Road, my own street. Actually, I was coming from Sainsbury's with a milk pack, headphones in my ears and telephone in my hand, and I was entering my street when I saw 2 guys dressed in black, with helmets and sunglasses. I thought they were weird and after a second of thinking, I thought they were REALLY weird. It's funny how you can feel those things. The taller guy said "HEY !" and ran after me. I ran like crazy !!! He caught me by my coat and I have been very lucky because I din't like this coat and I had nothing essential in it. So I threw my milk pack and I took off my coat and I ran as far as possible. I called the police who arrived with 3 cars (!) and I explained the situation. When we got back at the place where I had just been attacked, they did have take the coat AND THE MILK ! This is crazy !
Since then, I'm "kind of" paranoid. I had been warned that walking in London by night was dangerous but I didn't think it was that bad.
Some days later, I received a letter from an association reading "We are sorry to learn that you have been a victim of crime.". They were inviting me to get in touch with them if I flet I needed psychological help. I hadn't received this kind of letter when I had been assaulted in Paris. This is nice.
You may wonder why I'm talking about that now. It sounds silly but I had already planned to talk about Brokeback Mountain and the Joker. Moreover, the Joker had to be the 47th post in my blog, which is a symbolic number. Talking about my attack would have been like letting this event disturb my life in some way. I had to keep on going with the plan I had defined.
I've done the pictures for Degel's Board of 10 Directors, which I was part of in Paris. I got inspired from the Tarot arcana. But actually, I've done 12. And I represented myself in the Joker.
The Joker, that doesn't exist in the Tarot by the way, is apart from the other cards. It's powerful because it can beat all the other cards, as if it adapted to the enemy. But alone, this card loses all its value. Actually, the Joker doesn't have an own will. There is also a lot of other symbols used in this card.
Sunday night, Marlene (Ada's mother), Ada and I saw Brokeback Mountain, the new Ang Lee movie (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, The Wedding Banquet) with Heath Ledger and Jake Gylleenhaal. It tells the story of 2 cowboys, in 1963, falling in love for each other. At the end of their job, they live the life they had planned for themselves. 4 years later, they find each other and restart their relationship, hidden from their spouses, their children, the others...
This movie is so depressing... The last half hour, in which everything happens fast, is really heartbreaking. Like Romeo and Juliet for men (yes, it talks about an impossible love as well !). We left the theater totally disgusted ! We got home, we sat on the sofa but there was nothing on TV to comfort us. So Marlene told us : "I didn't understand everything, but my eyes were satisfied !". It's obvious that Heath Ledger (I wanted to see him in a movie for so long !) and Jake Gyllenhaal...!
I really loved that movie, but that's probably subjective. Even if I didn't understand everything, I think I felt the intricacy. Anyway, I'm glad that movie got 4 Golden Globes including best drama, best director and best screenplay. It's said to look good for the Oscars and I would love it to be awarded.
Such movies cause me to have utopian dreams. Feeling like resurrecting and comforting everybody, like going back in time and intervening, bullshit like that. It reminds me of the Six Feet Under finale as well, Gattaca music (I don't know why)... I dived into a "depression and abstraction" phase. Feeling a bit under the weather. Feeling of a vertigo.
The other day, at work, I found the Scissor Sisters' CD. I listened to it and I loved it ! There was some songs I knew and I knew they had made them (Filthy/Gorgeous, Laura), some songs I knew but didn't know who made them (Comfortably Numb) and some I didn't know (Return To Oz, It Can''t Come Quickly Enough, Tits On The Radio...). Even the interlude called A Message From Ms Matronic is funny !
But, beyond that, there's also the fact that they are gay (maybe not all of them, I don't know) and their music, their imagery and their videos are based on that. In the censored version of Filthy/Gorgeous video, we can see Jake Shears, the singer, in pants, tied to a bed and surrounded by 5 or 6 men in suits who cover him with whipped cream... Hummm !!!
When I opened the CD sleeve, I saw pictures of the band and, oh, Jake really is gorgeous on the picture ! He's dressed with some kind of black torn leather... He looks really petasse. (A bottom again !) But at the same time, he's got this little breadth, a little muscled, a little tanned, a little hairy, everything needed, in good proportions. Did I... find a model ??? Was I looking for one actually ? Or is Jake Shears like a natural model for me ???
Anyway, one thing is for sure : "Jake, you is gorgeous !"

- Gossip
Jamie Oliver is a huge celebrity in England. He's everywhere, in every show, on every magazine, in every ad, mostly in places he has nothing to do there, for the only reason that he's a cook. He's got his own show, releases cooking books, cooking DVDs as well... Lately, he signed a multi-gazillion pounds contract with Sainsbury's (a really famous supermarket chain in UK) to appear in their ads but also on their products : the Jamie Oliver's cooking knife, the Jamie Oliver's paste...
This opportunistic behaviour gets on British people's nerves. For Xmas, he made an ad for Sainsbury's smoked salmon. The thing is some breedings have been claimed to be unhealthy to produce food ! Clarissa Dickson, another famous cook, lately said that "Jamie" had sold his soul to Sainsbury's and that his opportunism makes him a "whore" !
In London, can be seen a quite strange ad campaign : "Jesus, hero or zero" showing baby Jesus with current iconography, namely, the Che's. It's actually a campaighn to promote a website, rejesus.co.uk, that would like, to my understanding, relaunch Christianity. You can vote and say what you think about Jesus (but only by text message, you know, it gives them some money), and watch the results online. Jesus is mostly appreciated by voters, you know, the people who pay to answer. But what is stunning is that people think he's black and prefer Santa Claus !
